Le Carrousel AW14 - Pack your bags!

The autumn and spring months of each year are by far my favorite. There is something beautiful about that first spring day you can wear a t’shirt or that first autumn evening you need socks and a throw. There is definite a sense of reset happening where you pause, reassess and embrace the changes both in our environment and within ourselves.

We always sneak in weekend getaways and day trips during this time as it presents the perfect climatic spectrum to explore without being too humid or chilly. I always find myself enjoying a neutral colour palette in the wardrobe on the weekends where yes black is my staple but I add plenty more denim, white, khaki and tan during this transition.

Le Carrousel is a perfect Tran seasonal wardrobe for the girls based on this colour spectrum and my first pic from the new AW 14 collection is the Jupe skirt in LUREX which can be dressed up with a knit, tights and moccasins or down with a trainer or sandals no matter which hemisphere you are playing. For the littles the Wool Bloomer Jumpsuit is the sweetest with  a Tee for warmer weekends or long sleeve floral blouse on cooler days.

So pack your suitcases and enjoy these incredible months of the year for some wonderful day trips and exploring!

PS I am needing the Mansur gavriel bucket bag in tan .. just saying.. husbando (or anyone really!) .. Christmas is only 3 months away! My goodness. For you ladies out there this is a perfect weekend bag so chic and practical!

Caroline Bosmans AW14 - The Innovator

With a background in Fashion buying and management I have been surrounded by new labels, design and fashion product every single day. They come thick and fast and most disappear or don’t have that cache to make a real impact. To innovate. To lead the industry and path the way for a revolution. So much of the same is seen and true artists are as rare as an authentic 2.55 chanel bag.

Stumbling across Caroline Bosmans on Instagram when she first started back at a couple of hundred followers on instagram I instinctively knew she was from another world. Beating to another frequency and vibrating at a level I have seen only in women’s high end fashion by the greats. Commes, Marni, Balenciaga, Margiela.

They don’t ever worry about what others are doing. They create a world that others want to be a part of. They push the boundaries and challenge the status quo. Caroline Bosmans is in this league of the greats.

There is intelligence in her design that I gravitate toward. Well maybe it’s her mind. She is after all a physiotherapist also who had a change of heart and studied at the Fashion Academy. I had a similar story. A bachelor of Commerce Law practicing for 7 years turned Fashion Stylist/editor. So I respect anyone who follows their dreams and passions over a monetary full filing but for me soul destroying career.

Her intelligence compounded with creative ingenuity won CB the ultimate fashion award at Playtime Paris by Milk Magazine cementing, as if it wasn’t already, she is here and someone to watch. Oh I was watching alright.. from the absolute beginning.

Her designs are becoming future classic and have a CULT following .. soon to be traded on ebay for double the price due to world-wide sell outs.

For anyone who knows fashion and breathes it, this brand is it. On her IG page she once posted a quote, ‘you can tell if it’s a good collection if people are afraid of it. In ten years everyone will love it’. I salute this woman.

Here are some of my favourite pieces from AW14. ps. I have seen SS15 and if you think this is good..... oh boy.

Sons and Daughters - Kinda Something like this ...

Sometimes when you find something you love there are just no words.

This is how I feel about the ‘sons + daughters’ brand.

Even when given an opportunity to style this eyewear I couldn’t even describe where my thoughts were heading with my vision. But my mood board was instinctive from the moment I opened the most incredible packaging of chartreuse neon cases. My heart was a flutter. After working in fashion for over 15 years I knew this collection ‘Class of 2014’ was one of the finest I have seen in a very long time. My mind was in overdrive from a styling perspective and the possibilities were endless however I wanted to try create something magic, capturing the playful elements and contemporary edgy side to these insanely cool specs. So first came this which quickly led to that…

And before I knew I had my series of pics which ended up … kinda something like this.

Still no words.

I hope you enjoy!

Printebebe - The story of a girl

Whilst I am a grunge girl this doesn’t mean I don’t do pretty. Actually, one of my favourite items of clothing is a floor length bohemian Isabel Marant paisley print dress which I wear with my Dr Martens and a denim jacket tied around my waist. Wearing pretty is so versatile these days it doesn’t have to be literal. Mix it up with fedora hat, high top sneakers and killer handbag and voila you have taken pretty to pretty damn amazing.

Isabel Marant is definitely a woman’s wear designer who balances femininity with edgy flawlessly and I look to her to keep my pretty in check. For all you mamas out there.

For the children, applying this style is even more relaxed. Knee high socks in a bold print (stripe or polka dot), some suede moccasins boots and fun accessories such as hats and bags take it from too cute to way chic.

‘Printebebe’ is my pick for a brand to get to know and watch. It is an Australian brand founded and designed by talented Bondi-based Fiona Kowalski (who worked for Vogue and Madison for 15 years). So you know the pedigree is admirable and you can count on Fiona to deliver the perfect amount of pretty in subtle hues of mints, mauves, taupes and greys.

Gorgeous smock-style blouses in divine prints mixed back with basic bloomers, a drop-crotch pant (plenty of nappy room) or an easy drawstring skirt. Perfect shaped dresses come in a range of short and long sleeves, making them great for sun cover as well as layering beautifully over skinny tees and tights come winter. The range caters for girls 3 months to 5 years (with a small range for boys too).

Easy styles work with wiggling bodies and there is nothing like a print to cover a multitude of food messes. Fiona has combined her love of fashion, prints and her young daughter to produce a range that is both beautifully pretty and very practical. 'All our styles can be played in, slept in, eaten in and they still look good on the other side,’ Fiona says. All these mini prints mix together fabulously and look so pretty on young girls. ‘I love children to look like children.’

So here are a sample of our picks from the current collection. I am so excited to be able to share this brand. It truly is a favourite and I hope you enjoy our little series from ‘This is the story of a girl’.
